“Penn Quarter Serves Up New Sandwich Shop”

Rich Twilley is no stranger to sandwiches. He spent four years working at Subway during high school. But the Twilley vision of the Platonic sandwich ideal goes beyond the $5 foot-long, and when it comes to convincing others, he’s ready to put his money where his mouth is.

Twilley and his friend and business partner, Matt Gray, are the force behind Amorini Panini, a new sandwich store slated to open at 906 F St. NW. The pair had attended Virginia Tech University and were in the same business fraternity, but mostly ran in different circles. Years later, a mutual friend suggested they reconnect over a happy hour, given their similar backgrounds (they both earned a living building houses after school, for example)

The Real Deal
Amorini Panini, the sandwich shop slated to open in late summer at 906 F Street, promises to indulge Downtown diners with European inspired-Paninis during breakfast and lunch. The new eatery will occupy 1,500 SF, seat 35 people and serve 10 different pressed sandwiches using freshly baked artisan bread. Its owners, Matt Gray and Rich Twilley, hope to franchise the concept regionally.
